In the past eleven years I realised over 15 homeexchanges and took my family and friends several times to Paris, Rome or Venezia, we spent a great time in Berlin, Madrid, Valencia, Edinburg, Alicante, Avignon, Stockholm, Bologna or Lisbon to name just a few. And indeed, now I am the experienced traveller and I know exactly what is necessary to organize a warm welcome in my home so you can enjoy your holiday. I began my career in business as an incoming tourist agency operator and I ran an incoming tourist agency for over 6 years. I loved showing off the magical town of Prague on thematic walking tours. And yes, I learnt a lot from my customers, primarily to admire my home town and to observe it from a foreigner’s perspective. Therefore I can share with you the “secret knowledge” and give you some good advice on how to fully enjoy your holiday in Prague. My apartment offers access to these top Prague monuments and sites of historical interest – UNESCO rated Charles Bridge, Kampa, National Theater or Laterna Magica are all accessible within a 10 min walking distance. The vast majority of the other highlights – Prague Castle, Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock or the Bethlehem Chapel are in the direct vicinity, you can easily see them in about 20 minutes of moderate walking distance. I launched this web page primarily to support home exchange holiday and to describe you my offer in more details.

I love travelling and I am a fan of home exchange. I am preferably looking for:

  •   5 – 7 days in the New Year Holiday, Easter Holiday; I would like to spent these holidays in some nice historical place preferably in Europe can find dates in my calendar
  •   12 – 14 days during the main summer holiday when I am looking for a see holiday or some smaller quiet place preferable Europe (see my calendar)
 

Fancy having you breakfast at the Bela Vida coffee at the Vltava embankment, or a spot of lunch in the very posh MANÚ Risto & Lounge – new restaurant of Emanuela Ridi or dinning at Café Slavia before the opera performance at the National Theater? I can hardly think of a more stylish and chic holiday!

Pamper yourself in a typical Czech restaurant Olympia Kolkovna or sample some very fashionable cuisine in Mexican Cantina established in 1994 – all these places are very popular among Czech people, have very good reviews and are definitely not the only “tourist” ones Moreover it will take you a maximum of 7 minutes on foot from the apartment to get there.

Prague is a captivating city with a lot to offer its visitors. There’s more to this place than first meets the eye. According to a European medieval astronomy there are few towns having such special statues. Likewise Bath and Portsmouth in England, Italian Ravenna and Rome, Delphi on Peloponess. Prague the capital of the Czech Republic belongs to the cities which are supposed to be ruled by the Lion supreme. This Lion symbolizes courage, bravery, earthly power, strength, dignity, and royalty. This can characterize Prague – city which became the centre of the Holy Roman Empire twice.

Paris is famous for its underground passages, Karlsruhe for structure plans, Jerusalem is supposed to be God’s Town but Prague dominates them with its urban structure, positioning, and balance.

The Czech Republic has some notable firsts: the contact lens, the sugar cube, the word robot, the plastic explosive Semtex, the world’s first Pilsner beer and the dollar all have their origins here. It was Czech doctor Jánský who discovered blood types and enabled transfusions, Gregor Mendel is a founder of modern genetics, Jan Evangelista Purkině who coined the word photoplasm (fluid substansce of a cell), Antonín Holý invented an important antiretroviral drugs used in the treatment of HIV and hepatitis. Prokop Diviš installed the first lighting rod, Nobelist Jaroslav Hejrovský invented polarographic method, Jan Ámos Komenský (Comenius) is considered the father of modern education. Comenius was the innovator who first introduced pictorial textbooks, written in native language instead of Latin, applied effective teaching based on the natural gradual growth from simple to more comprehensive, supported lifelong learning and development of logical thinking by moving from dull memorization, presented and supported the idea of equal opportunity for impoverished children, opened doors to education for women, made instruction universal and practical. Besides his native Bohemian Crown, he lived and worked in other regions of the Holy Roman Empire, and other countries: Sweden, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Transylvania, England, the Netherlands and Hungary. Black Light theater was invented here in Bohemia and has been advanced as an art form to where it is today. It’s a trick of they eye and a colour sensation, visually mesmerizing non verbal and suitable for people of all ages - the best place to see this modern marvel is the Laterna Magica in the National Street (10 min far from my flat).

The block where my apartment is was built in mid 19th century and is located at the Lesser Quarter - Mala Strana in the UNESCO zone of Prague below Petrin Hill. The whole block is protected and has kept the original design. It has a stucco decoration on the façade, in the entrance hall and also above the staircase.

Unigue atmosphere

The flat is situated on the third floor, there is a newly built lift available. The flat itself is 85 m2 large, 795 sg. ft. with high ceilings (3,5 m, 11 ft), it has parquet floors in all rooms. Windows on one side overlook Petřín Hill, The Hunger Wall and Ujezd, whilst on the other side you can see a sunny courtyard.

The apartment offers four rooms – two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom and WC. There is a big central hall that takes you directly to the living room, white bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

Beauty and comfort

Original ceramic stoves provide heat in each apartment. Nowadays it is only my apartment that still retains the ceramic heating in the living room (now purely for decoration). I also kept most of the original architectural details alive – a decorative wooden door and window frames with skillfully forged cranks, decorative bars or stained glass doors to preserve the unique atmosphere. I also carefully decorated the flat using more modern pieces of furniture, combined with antique pieces. You can relax after a long day walking in the city in a comfortable armchair (your feet will appreciate the practical stool), or fall asleep on a huge orange sofa with big soft pillows in the living room. Below the huge windows there is a large glass table, whereas the coffee table sits front of the sofa. The sunny yellow kitchen contains a big wooden table and cushioned comfortable chairs. It is fully equipped (an electric oven, a gas cooker, a dish washer, washing machine, and fridge with a freezer and kettle.

Green and white bedroom

The green bedroom is accessible from the living room, there is a very large and sofa bed with luxurious soft green pillows. There is also a big wooden table with an antique armchair and a wooden shelf (originally for manuscripts used in a bureau from 70 years ago).

There is a queen sized bed in the white bedroom, white wardrobe and marble antique decorative table with an original wooden carved chair and a linocut of the Prague Castle and Hradčany scenery.
